Fall Semester 2017
My violin studio at UNT includes 5 BM, 5 MM and 10 DMA students from Chile, China, Germany, Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan and the US. All of my MM and DMA students have teaching and orchestral positions in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and the large majority (about 80%) of them receive merit-based scholarships from UNT and the College of Music.
Aside from weekly studio classes (mostly student performances with feedback), I offer technique classes in which I address the most important aspects on "how to practice" and  "how to teach" violin technique.
For my DMA students in particular I create supervised teaching opportunities within my studio, including mini-master classes in my studio classes in which DMA students receive direct feedback from me on their teaching. One of my goals is to train my students to become their "own best teachers", so they possess all the tools necessary to do so as successful teachers to others.
Jiaxi Liu is the winner of the 2017/18 UNT Concerto Competition.
Elija Evans won a full-time section position with the Lubbock Symphony.
Yuri Noh
won a full-time section position with the Lewisville Lake Symphony.
Terra Warger won section positions with the Richardson Symphony and Midland-Odessa Symphony.

To all Prospective Students
If you are interested in studying with me, please contact me via email (felix.olschofka@unt.edu). I believe that is is imperative for a student and teacher alike to get to know each other through a sample lesson, in a master classes, in a music festival, or a Skype meeting. You not only commit to a university for 2-5 years (depending on your degree) but also to weekly lessons with your major (violin) professor. Both, teacher and student, want to make sure that the professional chemistry and common goals are a good working match.
I look forward to hear from you and meeting you!
